Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2026. Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before using the Online Level web application.

Important Safety & Construction Disclaimer

Online Level is an informational, general-purpose browser tool designed for everyday hobby, household, and minor DIY tasks. It is NOT a certified industrial measurement device or licensed surveying instrument.

Do not rely on this tool for structural building construction, load-bearing carpentry, architectural foundation work, masonry framing, electrical installations, or any safety-critical application where measurement errors could result in structural collapse, injury, or property damage. For these applications, use an appropriate calibrated physical measuring instrument and, where necessary, consult a qualified professional.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Online Level, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please refrain from using the tool.

2. Description of the Service

Online Level provides a free, browser-based digital spirit level that reads orientation sensor data from your mobile device via web APIs. The service is provided free of charge, with no registration or user account required.

3. Appropriate & Permitted Use

You agree to use Online Level in a lawful, responsible manner. Suitable applications include:

  • Hanging picture frames, mirrors, clocks, and lightweight wall art.
  • Checking the levelness of desks, tables, and flat-pack furniture.
  • Checking the approximate level of household appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators.
  • Checking camper van or RV parking tilt on campsites.

4. Measurement Accuracy & Sensor Limitations

Digital angles computed by Online Level depend on the physical sensors and software capabilities of your device, as well as browser and operating-system behavior. Sensor readings may be affected by:

  • Protruding camera lenses, uneven phone cases, and bent phone chassis.
  • Sensor manufacturing tolerances and thermal sensor drift.
  • Hand tremors, mechanical vibrations, and device orientation jitter.
  • Operating system or browser-specific sensor sampling rate differences.

Software zero-offset calibration is provided to help compensate for mechanical offsets, but does not guarantee absolute mathematical precision.

5. "As-Is" and "As-Available" Warranty Disclaimer

Online Level is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including, to the extent permitted by applicable law, implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the tool will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all devices or browsers.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Online Level, its creators, or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this tool. You assume full responsibility for any physical measurements taken, items hung, furniture assembled, or projects undertaken based on sensor readouts.
